Browser Extension Version 17.x

Coming 2026

Option to Disable Built-In Password Managers

In an upcoming release, users will be prompted when they log in to KeeperFill (or upon download) to turn off their browser’s built-in password manager (with the option to keep it enabled if preferred).

This includes Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave and Firefox browsers. This proactive approach eliminates potential conflicts between other password managers and ensures you receive the best possible KeeperFill experience without the hassle of manual configuration.

  • Timing: Release timing is not yet finalized, we’ll be in touch with more information as it becomes available.

  • Administrative Controls: With this release, administrative controls will be implemented in the Keeper Admin Console, allowing organizations to determine whether KeeperFill automatically disables a browser’s built-in password manager.

  • Existing Passwords: Existing passwords saved in your browser password manager will not be removed if this feature is enabled.

  • Autofill for Payments, Addresses & Personal Information: Payments, addresses and personal information saved in your browser password manager will be unaffected by this update.

This update will deploy automatically in an upcoming release. If you choose to allow Keeper to disable your browser password manager, you may receive a prompt requesting permission to re-enable Keeper. Simply click “turn on” or “accept permissions”.
