Overview

Keeper Forcefield is an advanced endpoint security feature for Microsoft Windows that protects sensitive applications and processes from unauthorized access. It is specifically designed to defend against threats such as infostealers and password-stealing malware installed from phishing or other attacks.

Forcefield is bundled with the Keeper Desktop application for Windows and operates silently in the background to ensure data protection without impacting performance or usability.

This is the end-user guide for Keeper Forcefield. The Enterprise Guide includes more advanced depoyment options for administrators.


Getting Started

Installing Keeper Forcefield via Keeper Desktop

To activate Forcefield from the Keeper Desktop application, install the latest Keeper Desktop App.

After installation:

  • Navigate to Settings > Security in Keeper Desktop

  • Visit the Forcefield screen and activate the service.

Once enabled, Forcefield will immediately begin protecting your computer.

Status and Updates

The system tray provides a Forcefield status icon and the ability to check for a new version. Keeper will check on a daily basis for a new version, but the update must be explicitly installed by the user.

Applications Protected by ForceField

Forcefield is built to protect designated applications by verifying their process name, file name, and code signature. The following applications are secured using this validation approach:

Keeper Applications:

  • Keeper Desktop

  • Keeper Secrets Manager

  • Keeper Commander

  • Keeper Gateway

  • Keeper Bridge

  • KeeperChat

  • Keeper Importer

Web Browsers:

  • Chrome

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Firefox

  • Brave

  • Opera

  • Vivaldi

Quick Testing

To verify that Keeper Forcefield is protecting your machine:

  1. Open Task Manager.

  2. Right-click on a protected process.

  3. Choose Create memory dump file.

  4. The .dmp file should be 0 bytes if blocked.
